You’ve got to hand it to them. The Chinese know how to live well and it begins with good food. My Chinese friend wanted to give me some very simple tips on cooking and not being an enthusiastic cook myself, I tried to evade the discussion. He was adamant and guess what? After a few minutes of listening to his inspired lecture on speed cooking, here I am tossing vegetables and noodles in a jiffy, adding a dash of salt and pepper and soy sauce and loving the experience. And how good is it? Well, I cook only to please myself, so it’s good enough for me.

I don’t know if it is just me or if it is happening to everyone else. When things go wrong they go so wrong and all at one time. I have to report for work early and it is precisely on that day everything gets thrown out of gear. For instance the bedside alarm goes off and just last night I forgot to check if the snooze button was on. The alarm went off just once and I blissfully slept on. Jumped out of bed an hour late, the percolator spilled coffee all over the table, the lid flew off the mixer, the toast got burnt and the egg crashed on the floor!

I once won a competition to tour Russia. I found communism and capitalism joining hands to bring out progress, peace and prosperity. I saw the Great Russian circus there. What an innocent nation! I learnt selflessness, hard work and sincerity through that trip. I could infer that Russians- be them communists or capitalists will remain immortal forever.

Whenever my parents presented me a book, I never bothered to read it. Then due to their exhortation, I started reading books. But once, when I attended a quiz competition, I suddenly realized how much my book reading has come to my rescue. A lot of questions were answered due to knowledge gained from books. Yes, book reading is essential

I joined as a junior faculty in the department of Gynecology in a renowned medical university. It was my first day. After a brief introduction, I planned to go to the library for some books. There was pregnant delivery going on in the maternity room. I asked permission and entered to see the offspring coming out of the womb. The offspring turned to me with a wink and said “This is how we come out”. I fell down unconscious.

I and my brother were watching our favorite TV show. A gang of robbers entered with huge guns and knives. They asked us to take out all the valuables. I said no and gave a big kick on his face. I flied in the air here and there, knocked the entire gang and sat on the back of one of the robber. I heard the voice of my brother, “Get away from my back. Oh NO ! It was only a dream”.
